Overview

Antenatal multiple micronutrient supplementation (MMS), a daily dose of 15 vitamins and minerals is as effective as iron and folic acid supplementation (IFAS) in preventing maternal anaemia and more effective at improving birth outcomes.

Nutrition International works alongside countries who are interested in adopting MMS for pregnant women, such as Nigeria and Pakistan, to conduct tailored implementation science to inform the sustainable, measurable, attainable, realistic and tailored (SMART) transition from IFAS to MMS, while optimizing adherence.
