Is deployment of trained nurses to rural villages a remedy for the low skilled birth attendance in Ethiopia? A cluster randomized-controlled community trial
Overview
This paper assessed the impact that deployment of trained community based nurses in rural communities in Ethiopia had on the uptake of Skilled Birth Attendance (SBA) to reduce maternal mortality.
A cluster-randomized controlled community trial was conducted to measure this impact.
The study found that after nine months of deployment, the uptake of SBA increased significantly. This model could be replicated in other similar low income settings.
