Dr. Rifat Atun is Vice Dean for Non-Degree Education & Innovation at Harvard University and Professor of Global Health Systems at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where he also leads the Health System Innovation Lab. He is the first tenured professor of Global Health Systems at Harvard University and has held senior academic roles at Imperial College London, where he was Professor of International Health Management and Head of the Health Management Group.

From 2008 to 2012, Dr. Atun served on the Executive Management Team of The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, overseeing strategy, performance and evaluation of investments of nearly USD $4 billion annually in more than 120 countries. He has advised governments and multilateral organizations including the World Bank, World Health Organization, and the G20 on health system reform, global health security and COVID-19 response.

His research explores health system performance, reform, and the diffusion of innovations, with over 500 publications in leading journals. Recognized among the world’s Highly Cited Researchers, he is a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners and the Faculty of Public Health of the Royal College of Physicians in the UK.
