Improving maternal and newborn health in Tanzania
What nutrients are important to consume while pregnant? How long should a newborn be exclusively breastfed? What’s the frequency of check-ups a woman should have while pregnant and after giving birth? Frontline workers, whether a nurse at a health centre or a community health volunteer, are often the first point of contact to help to-be parents navigate the nutritional needs and requirements of a growing family.
Nutrition International works in partnership with the Tanzanian government to support comprehensive strengthening of the health system. This includes training of frontline workers to provide quality care for a positive pregnancy through to taking care of a newborn. Watch these frontline workers in action and see the impact they have on pregnant women and new mothers in Tanzania.
