Infant and young child nutrition indicators in two provinces of Afghanistan: results from two rounds of large country-lot quality assurance sampling surveys
Overview
The objective of this paper was to review the status of an infant and young child feeding (IYCF) program in Afghanistan, which was supported by Nutrition International. The information collected was used to update stakeholders on the activities, implement any necessary changes, and provide strategies for scale-up.
A large country-lot quality assurance sampling (LC-LQAS) study was utilized to conduct the monitoring of the program.
During the two monitoring phases, it was found that the minimum acceptable diet among 6-23 month old children was consistently implemented, and the LC-LQAS was good method to estimate ICYN indicators in low resource settings
