Socio-demographic and economic determinants of adherence to iron intake among pregnant women in selected low and lower middle income countries in Asia: insights from a cross-country analyses of global demographic and health surveys.
Overview
The objective of this study is to uncover factors associated with lack of iron intake leading to anaemia in Afghanistan, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, and the Philippines.
Utilizing multivariate regression analyses from the Demographic and Health Surveys from each country, individual country data was analyzed using Predictive Analytics Software for Windows 18.0.
The study highlighted that although there are a number of factors leading to non-compliance of supplementation, print media, television, and antenatal care are all associated with higher uptake of iron supplementation in the surveyed countries.
