Share of Informal Sector and Loose Oil in the Edible Oil/Ghee Market of Pakistan
Overview
This brief outlines the findings of a rapid market assessment of the availability of loose and unrefined oil in Pakistan and proposes policy recommendations based on the results.
This document was produced as part of the Food Fortification Programme (FFP) in Pakistan, which ended in 2021. In collaboration with Mott MacDonald and funded with UK aid from the UK government, Nutrition International implemented a large-scale food fortification program in Pakistan to fortify wheat flour and edible oil. Building on the work of FFP and with support from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Nutrition International has launched the Digitizing Pakistan’s Oil Fortification Program to institutionalize and sustain the gains of FFP, improving quality assurance and quality control measures to ensure availability of adequately fortified oil with vitamins A and D.
