This paper estimates demographic denominators to be used for program monitoring for 2 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, and 169 targets, during inter-censal periods when denominators are not readily available.
For thirteen countries with 100 million plus populations, this paper has utilized the following variables to create an equation: crude birth rate, estimated number of annual births, and estimated number of annual pregnancies.
This study creates a standardized denominator estimation equation to project population data during inter-censal periods.
