Empowering futures: A milestone in adolescent nutrition

This brief demonstrates the importance of building the capacity of laboratories globally to conduct a harmonized assessment of folate status to compare results across laboratories and countries. In partnership with the Nutrition Biomarkers Branch at the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Environmental Health, Division of Laboratory Science (CDC) and the CDC Foundation, Nutrition International undertook a laboratory capacity building project following the recommendations found in the Roadmap for Action, as detailed in the publication Framework for laboratory harmonization of folate measurements in low- and middle-income countries and regions. This brief also reviews the key aspects of laboratory training as outlined in the publication.
