This project will use factories operated within the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers’ and Exporters’ Association as its delivery platform to target women, as well as men, whose need for improved nutrition is high but who have a limited ability to obtain nutrition services due to cost, accessibility and poor knowledge.
The project will contribute to improving the health, nutrition and wellbeing of workers, especially women, in RMG factories. Specifically, the project aims to:
- Improve nutrition and nutrition-related knowledge
- Prevent and control anaemia, by increasing the number of female RMG workers receiving weekly iron and folic acid supplementation (WIFAS)
The project is comprised of the following components:
- WIFAS for 180,000 women
- Behaviour change communication through the dissemination of information on anaemia, dietary diversity, basic hygiene practices, and the importance of WIFAS for 180,000 female workers and 60,000 male workers
- Government and private sector advocacy to improve all workers’ nutrition
