Overview

Childhood stunting affects nearly 40% of children under five in Africa, leading to poor health, cognitive delays and economic losses of $25 billion annually. Through it’s Multi-Sectoral Nutrition Action Plan 2018-2025, the African Development Bank has prioritized ‘nutrition-smart’ investments, particularly in the five sectors that account for over 30% of government spending in Africa and serve as underlying drivers of nutrition. This includes harnessing its ‘grey matter infrastructure,’ or a populations brain power to unlock the continent’s economic potential.
